The Status Bar is an always-visible bar at the bottom of the user interface. Having this solution provides the user with the status of their connection at any time.
It shows a status message, loading icons while connecting, stats once the connection is live, and the user's IP address. The Status Bar also allows the user to connect and disconnect from a game session at any time.
There are a few "states" the Status Bar will display. (Please open the images on a new tab to view them more clear):
1. Disconnected State
The Disconnected state pops up when you are not hooking any traffic. The first time you try the application, this state will prompt you to pick a game:
Once you've started a game from the app for the first time, this Disconnected State will become a shortcut for launching the last game you played:
2. Calculating State
There is a slight buffer between hooking traffic (e.g., routing game traffic through the application) and the state when live stats are displayed.
Therefore, once the game session starts, the calculating state will appear for a few seconds, giving charts and graphs a few seconds to correctly calibrate the data.
Look at this as a "thinking" buffer, as the software gathers a bit of data before displaying the results.
3. Connected State
The Status Bar will show live stats when the application is routing traffic, including:
A line graph visually displaying your current ping time
The WTFast ping. This is the optimized ping time in integer format (e.g., the telemetry data for the game sent through the proxies)
The internet ping. This is the non-optimized ping time for the default internet connection. (e.g., all non-telemetry data not being routed)
The improvement % of the WTFast optimized ping time vs. the non-optimized default internet ping time.
4. Direct Connection State
Our Auto-Optimal system is an insurance policy for users to guarantee that they always have the best connection possible when choosing automatic routing. When the system has determined that your default internet connection would provide the best performance, the Status Bar will show only the regular internet stats.
